WellSpr.ing (Civic OS / ComOS) is the platform layer powering 216 community-facing sites across 47 US states and territories. Every site in the network exposes public JSON APIs and MCP endpoints. No authentication required for read operations.

The platform is covenant-based: no dark patterns, no manipulative advertising, no data brokering. Merchants, educators, faith communities, and local governments opt in explicitly.

Build in Public: all 216 portals are live, all data pipelines are running, and the network is growing. Code, schema, and methodology are openly documented.

216 area-code portals live across 47 US states and territories. Every portal is accessible today at {NNN}.today and powered by the same Civic OS platform stack.

Each portal covers:

- Local business directory with AI enrichment (claim, verify, Perplexity-enriched offerings)
- Civic news feed refreshed every 30 min from 3+ local sources
- Community events calendar with exact dates (YYYY-MM-DD, no vague "Month YYYY")

- Notable Persons catalog — residents, hometown heroes, legacy figures

it covers — incorporated city/town/village/borough .gov sites, county seat fallbacks, and
neighbourhood council links. This pipeline is active for all 216 portals.

Ody introduces each geo-portal to the Mayor, City Clerk, or equivalent at every new locality.
Outreach starts with rural communities and small towns (population < 5,000) — the communities
most underserved by existing civic AI — and progresses to mid-size cities and metros.

Cadence: 10–20 introductions per week, progressing smallest-to-largest by population.
